Their chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken are second to none and make this worth planning a stop if you're in Gonzalez. The catfish is also excellent. The staff are friendly every time we eat there. The decor feels like a time warp to 50-60 years ago, sitting among other patrons, including on Saturdays with local ranch hands in and out of the adjacent auction house Gonzales Livestock Market, Inc.

This place is always busy people always waiting to take a seat. The service is always fast and prompt. The food is always fresh and good parking is good. Just there is high peak rush showers which seems to be all the time. Which is good for them!

We both had chicken fried steak with fries. I'm used to the steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, but it is what it is. The steak and fries were delicious and surprisingly, the little salad bar was very fresh and delicious. The two meals with iced tea was 32. I would go again if I'm hungry around Gonzales. It was definitely alot better than the nearby Bucees.

Cow Palace was recommended by the owner of Blue Stem in Shiner, and without doubt was a great call. Seat yourself. Salad bar looked all fresh and properly tended despite it being the peak of lunchtime. We opted for cheeseburgers w/ fries. All very good, beef patty tasted more like grass fed, def not big box or wholesale supply. Will look forward to stopping here again.

Stopped by for dinner and certainly enjoyed the atmosphere and nice staff. I ordered the Grilled Catfish with French Fries, which also comes with a trip to the salad bar. The salad bar was fresh and neat, with a great selection and plenty of dressings to choose from. The Catfish was flaky and tender, and the fries were great. They give plenty of cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and ketchup (or catsup). You can pay cash or credit card. Be sure to tip.
